Women's Health & Lifestyle Expo

Area women are invited to attend St. Margaret’s Women’s Health & Lifestyle Expo on Saturday, August 28, from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Peru Mall.  This free event is being offered in celebration of women and their contributions to our community. 

 

Three seminars will be offered concurrently at the top of each hour from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in three different mall storefronts.  Speakers and topics at the Expo will include: 

 

·        10 a.m.: Room A, Beautiful Skin, A More Beautiful Me, Libby Kristal, MD; Room B, Weighing Your Options - Evaluating Diet Trends, Kelly George, RD; and Room C, Life is a Balancing Act - Stress Management for Women, Michele Batkiewicz, RN, and Melissa Stachowiak, LSW

·        11 a.m.: Room A, Turning Down the Heat - Menopause and Hormone Replacement, Jennifer Maschmann, MD, OB/GYN; Room B, Take Control - Self Defense for Women, Cliff Morris, BC Sheriff Dept.; and Room C, Making Sense of Your Dollars -  Financial Planning for Women, Karen Hanson, CFP

·        12 Noon: Room A, Building Bones - What Women Should Know About Osteoporosis, Norah Orteza, MD, OB/GYN; Room B, Blue Mondays - Is it only Mondays or is it every day? Cynthia Ashley, PsyD; and Room C, Golf Fore Women, Mary Dagraedt, Golf Pro, and Craig Castaneda, PT Dept.

·        1 p.m.: Room A, How Old is Too Old?  Advanced Maternal Age, Craig Whatcott, MD, OB/GYN; Room B, Working Toward a Greater Happiness - Connecting With Yourself, Sister Maureen Becker, OSF; and Room C, Organizing Your Memories – Scrapbooking, Dorothy Severson, Creative Memories

 

Also, at a quarter to each hour, there will be center court demonstrations featuring Chef Charlie from Starved Rock Lodge demonstrating Low Carb Cooking at 9:45 a.m.; Sonnie Blocki, Physical Therapist, will illustrate the use of a Swiss Ball in her demo at 10:45 a.m.; the YMCA Staff will offer a Pilates Demo at 11:45 a.m.; and Pam Zibert from Valley Flowers will demonstrate the Basics of Floral Design at 12:45 p.m.       

 

Also available at the Women’s Health & Lifestyle Expo will be free Blood Pressure Screenings, Blood Sugar Screenings, Body Fat Analysis, Health Risk Assessments, Spinal Screenings, Pulse Oximetry, and Chair Massages. 

 

Many local businesses will also be represented showcasing their women’s health & lifestyle services.
