Dust off that old family rocking chair in the basement, get your very first doll out of the closet, along with the box it came in, and plan on being at the Peru Eagles on Thursday, September 23, when St. Margaret's Hospital Foundation sponsors the return of Trash or Treaure - How Much Is It Worth? our area's own Antique Road Show!
Starting at 6 p.m. and lasting until 10 p.m., Karen Holland of K and T Antiques of Sterling will discuss items brought in for appraisal. With almost 30 years of experience in antique appraisal, two of them with the Antique Road Show, Karen will provide knowledgeable background and replacement cost value for insurance purposes of your "treasures." She is a licensed certified appraiser and a member of the American Society Guild of Appraisers.
There will be a fee of $5 per person entry and $5 per item appraised, with a limit of three items per person. Each guest will receive a number, and a random drawing of those numbers will determine the order in which items are appraised. Larger items, especially furniture pieces, need to be transported to the Eagles and then moved in and out of the building by the owner(s), or they can be "shown" to Karen by a series of photographs.
No advanced registration is required, and fees will be collected at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Foundation, which in turn will use the proceeds to help SMH. For more information, call Joe Dellatori, Foundation Director, at extension 329. See you at the show!
