Cancer Care

Cancer Support Groups
Several support groups in the areas of cancer and bereavement support are offered at St. Margaret’s. For more information on any support group, call (815) 664-1613.

Deangelo Cancer Unit
This special area is named for the late James “Jimmy D” DeAngelo, who lost his battle with cancer in 1983. This area is dedicated solely to the needs of cancer patients who are cared for by a specially trained nursing staff, surgeons, radiation therapists, and oncologists. Hospice
Hospice care supports terminally ill patients and their families for whom curative therapy is no longer possible or appropriate. Emphasis is put on the management of pain and other symptoms associated with terminal illness. Requests for hospice care are accepted from the patient, family or physician. Oncology Clinic
Treatments such as chemotherapy and transfusions are performed for cancer patients by a specially trained staff at the Oncology Clinic. Any oncology or hematology treatment can be performed at the clinic. For more information, call (815) 664-1487.
