This special 12-bed unit is named for the late James "Jimmy D" DeAngelo who

lost his battle with cancer in 1983.   The unit is dedicated solely to the needs 

of cancer patients who are cared for by a specially trained nursing staff,

surgeons, radiation oncologists, and medical oncologists. Each patient is surrounded by a home-like setting

and has a private room. Visiting conveniences are also provided for the family. The DeAngelo cancer unit is

certified by the Association of Community Cancer Centers and approved by the Commission on Cancer.

Treatments such as chemotherapy and transfusions are performed daily for cancer patients by a specially-trained

staff at the Oncology Clinic.  Any oncology or hematology treatment can be performed at the clinic.

The Valley Cancer Center provides radiation treatments to cancer patients.  The Center offers

which radiation treatments last only seconds.  Treatment planning is performed using a radiation

treatment via the Elekta SL15 Linear Accelerator and Varian Clinac 6/100 Linear Accelerators, in

therapy simulator, a block cutter and a computer for 3-dimentional therapy planning.  The Center

is under the direction of Neelima Kabre, M.D., Board Certified Radiation Oncologist.  Phone

Make Today Count is a support group for cancer patients, their families and friends. They meet twice a

month in the DeAngelo Cancer Unit Family Room.

Rebound is a support group for persons affected by breast cancer. This group meets once a month.

Grief and Loss Support Group is for those who have lost a loved one through death. Meetings are held

once a month.
