CANCER SUPPORT GROUPS

Several support groups in the areas of cancer and bereavement support are offered at St. Margaret's.  For more information on any support group, call (815) 664-1613.

DEANGELO ONCOLOGY CLINIC

This special area is named for the late James "Jimmy D" DeAngelo, who lost his battle with cancer in 1983.  This area is dedicated solely to the needs of cancer patients who are cared for by a specially trained nursing staff, surgeons, radiation therapists, and oncologists.  For more information, phone (815) 664-1450.

HOSPICE

Hospice care supports terminally ill patients and their families for whom curative therapy is no longer possible or appropriate.  Emphasis is put on the management of pain and other symptoms associated with terminal illness.  Requests for hospice care are accepted from the patient, family or physician.  To request hospice care, or for more information, phone (815) 664-1132.

ONCOLOGY CLINIC

Treatments such as chemotherapy and transfusions are performed for cancer patients by a specially trained staff at the Oncology Clinic.  Any oncology or hematology treatment can be performed at the clinic.  For more information, call (815) 664-1110.

VALLEY CANCER CENTER

The Valley Cancer Center provides radiation treatments to cancer patients.  The Center offers treatment via the Elekta SL15 Linear Accelerator, which was installed in the Spring of 2001.  Radiation treatments last only seconds.  Treatment planning is performed using a radiation therapy simulator, a block cutter and a new state-of-the-art treatment planning computer for 3-dimensional therapy planning.  The Center is under the direction of Neelima Kabre, M.D., Board Certified Radiation Oncologist.  Phone (815) 664-4141 for more information.
